Puzzle Update

  1. Thank you for reposting your comment on my blog. Blogger says they restored everything, but your comment never came back and neither did the 3 pages I had created this week. Grrr...so frustrating as I had worked so hard on them. And to have to type out all of the financial stuff again (one of my tabs was about the fees) was not fun...being reminded yet again how much we need to raise. I wonder if you guys are adopting from the same region that we are, because your fees are the same as ours and you mention Global (who we are using). Wouldn't that be cool to be traveling at the same time to the same region!

  2. Carmen is in region 3 as well!! I didn't know the name of the region, only that it said 3 on RR. You must be working with Judy from Global too then. I don't know when we are traveling, we just finished all of the paperwork for the homestudy and we are supposed to be making the home visit appointment this week. I think we are just about at the same point, aren't we? This may work out pretty good, assuming we can gather our dossier docs at about the same speed.

  3. Yep, we are working with Judy. How has your experience been with them so far? Ours has been pretty good so far...she has been pretty quick to get back with us on most things and I think she always has our best interests in mind. Our home study is scheduled for June 2, and we are guaranteed to have the home study back by August 2. So, that may mean that we can travel in late August or September, but a lot of it will depend on the money we can raise.

As things develop, we can keep an eye on each others' progress and maybe things will come together around the same time! From reading your blog, it sounds like you and Alyssa would have a lot in common...older kids from a previous marriage, similar heart for children, etc. It would be great for you guys to meet!

What are you planning to do in terms of raising the money for your adoption? We have been running across a lot of great ideas we could share

  4. I have items for two giveaways, but it seems like there are so many other families doing online fundraisers at the same time so no one is really getting a great response. I am trying to think of more things to do in my community, because of the fact that so many giveaways are happening right now.
Judy is great, though we haven't really done much with her yet since we are working with a separate homestudy agency. We had some additional paperwork to do so it delayed our homestudy, but I would guess that we will have our home visit close to yours.
I would love to hear some good ideas for fundraising, because this part terrifies me. What if we get through all the paperwork, are approved, have paid the first set of big fees, and then can't travel because we can't raise the rest of the money? I have noticed that some families raise the money quickly and are fully funded before they leave on their first trip, and others struggle more.
